Refund Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Is it possible to get my money back?

You can get all of your payment back if:

  • You haven't humanized 2,000 words yet
  • It's less than 7 days after your (first) monthly payment
  • It's less than 14 days after your (first) yearly payment

This doesn't apply to renewal payments, so make sure to cancel before one is due (we'll let you know before a yearly one happens). Getting this amount of money back doesn't depend on any results from an AI detector on your text.

Can I get money back for API credit?

No. API credit you buy is added to your account straight away and never runs out, so it isn't refunded. This doesn't affect your rights under UK consumer law.

How do I get my money back?

You need to contact us. Either go to the Help section of our site and message us from your account, or email [email protected] from the address on your account. Include the details of the payment and we'll look into it.

You can cancel at any point from Billing, and you'll retain your current plan until the end of the period you've paid for, and (thereafter) will be downgraded to Free, without further charge. None of this affects your rights under UK consumer law. Once you've humanized 2,000 words, or the times above have passed, this refund rule no longer applies. Your legal rights still do (see below).

How long does a refund take?

As soon as we agree to a refund, we'll send it to the card or account you used to pay, always within 14 days (there's no charge to you). However, banks may take 5-10 working days to show it. If you haven't got the money after this period, get in touch and we'll give you a reference which may help your bank to trace it.

You'll get back the exact amount you paid (if this was in your own currency at checkout), although if your bank has converted it, the amount it shows may not be the same (as exchange rates change).

What if I was charged by mistake?

If you were charged twice, or after you'd cancelled, we'll refund the extra payment in full, whenever you tell us. Sometimes banks (temporarily) 'hold' funds: this may be what you're seeing, and the hold will be released without you doing anything.

What if something goes wrong on our side?

If a humanize fails (or you stop it) you get the words from that attempt back. So too with any API request: if it fails you get its credit back.

If DetectorProof stops working for you, or doesn't do what we say it does, message us and we'll fix it (or add the missing time, or give you part or all of your money back). Similarly, if we stop providing something you paid for, we'll give you money back for what you can't use.

What happens if I delete my account?

This ends your plan straight away, with no refund for the time left, and any API credit is lost. So if you think you're owed a refund, ask us before you delete it.

What if I dispute a payment with my bank?

Message us first. We're often able to resolve payment problems quicker than a bank.

  • Our payments appear on card statements as DETECTORPROOF
  • You have the right to dispute a payment with your bank or credit card company. We won't charge you to do this.
  • If a card payment is in dispute, we cancel the plan it paid for. If the payment was a top-up, its credit is removed from your balance (as much as is left).
  • We cannot refund that payment while the dispute is open. Your bank will make the decision (which can take 2 to 3 months).
  • We give your bank what it needs to decide (e.g. the payment and the refund rule you agreed to at checkout).
  • If your bank sides with you, the money stays with you. If it sides with us, message us and we'll put your plan or credit back.
  • If somebody used your card without your consent, tell your bank. Also message us and we'll stop any more payments.

What are my rights under the law?

Nothing on this page overrides your legal rights. In the UK we must provide DetectorProof with reasonable care and skill, and it must do what we say. If it doesn't, you can ask us to put it right, and if we can't, you may get some (or all) of your money back.

Can this policy change?

Yes. And when it does, we'll update the date at the top. Payments you've already made aren't affected.
